You can tee-off from underneath the arches!

Standing on a tee underneath a giant railway arch is one of the most spectacular drives in the area.

This is Headley, a short nine-hole course with a big welcome and plenty of fun to play and enjoy a great round of golf.

The viaduct is the 120 foot high, 23 arch construction which was built around 1880 to connect to the Bradford, Halifax and Keighley Railway and is now part of the Great Northern Trail, used by walkers and cyclists.

At just 4,864 yards off the white tees, you don’t have to be a Tiger Woods with your driver, but you do need to be a pretty decent putter.

The course is on two levels and is bisected by the viaduct.

After the first two, the remaining seven holes have different tee positions, which alters the approach angle and club selection.

The par four third becomes a par three on the second time round.

Headley prides itself as one of the friendliest clubs in the district, and the most competitively priced at only £395 for full membership.

You won’t feel excluded as a member because weekend competitions are for drawn partners – simply put your name down and a playing partner is drawn out of a hat.

Headley’s clubhouse has panoramic view over the Aire Valley and is available for hire free of charge for functions.

The club takes an active part in the Bradford Union of Golf Clubs, with scratch, 8-15, rabbits and junior teams.
