Ilkley Town celebrated their successful 2012-13 campaign with their annual awards.

The season was a historic one with the first team winning the Wharfedale & District FA Challenge Cup for the first time and the Reserve team coming close to prom- otion.

The first team awards were presented to leading scorer Phil Thommassen, James Winward, Darren Munday and Ben Dexter.

The Reserve team awards went to Robbie Oldham, Ed Bryan, Adam Fowler and Alan Stockdale.

Town are now beginning their preparations for the new season.

They have introduced Simon Armitage into the set up as a player/coach.

He will bring plenty of experience as a player and also as a UEFA B licenced coach.

Armitage joins a coaching team which includes Dave Houlston, Frank Carter and Michael Williams.

Chairman Richard Giles said: “The club is on a upward curve.

“We want to build on our success of last season.

“Our goals for the new season are to see both the first team and the Reserves promoted and to have a real shot at winning their respective divisions in the West Yorkshire League.

“Bringing Simon into the set up is a statement of intent and shows that we can attract high-calibre players and coaches. I am very optimistic about the next season.”

Pre-season training begins on Wednesday, at Ben Rhydding Sports Club (7pm)
