ILKLEY Cycling Club had good luck with the weather for its 2015 cyclo-cross event on Sunday.

The rain held off until the end of the last race of an event which attracted nearly 300 entrants ranging in age from three to 80,.

The exceptionally muddy conditions demanded a high level of skill from the riders, but this did not diminish the competitiveness as the riders put on some good racing for the watching crowd of spectators.

The good-natured and relaxed atmosphere, typical of cyclo-cross events, attracted riders from across the North of England.

Younger Ilkley Cycling Club riders had a great showing with some undertaking their first cyclo-cross event.

Amongst the club’s more experienced young riders, Jonny Gill came second in the under-16 race while Dominic Coy came third in the under-14s and Freya Whiteside was similarly placed in the under-12s.

Tom Gill went one better than his son by winning the veterans race.
