ILKLEY are hoping that their weekend off will give their injured players a chance to get fit for a return to action.
With a home clash against National League Three North leaders Huddersfield looming on Saturday week, head of rugby Rhys Morgan is hoping for some good news from the treatment room.
The Dalesmen were without seven regulars for last Saturday’s 34-22 defeat against in-form Rossendale.
Morgan was forced into a number of positional changes too and admitted: “The players coming in did well but when they haven’t played for a while it takes times to adapt to our structures.
“We conceded two early tries and it certainly looked bleak when we were 34-3 down early in the second half, but the lads showed a lot of character.
“We scored three tries, had another disallowed and had Rossendale worried in the closing stages.”
Among the try scorers were new winger Rob Rekis and the returning Aaron Magee.
Morgan said: “I couldn’t fault the players. There was a lot of disruption to the side and yet they never threw in the towel.”
