Menston snatched the Division Three title on a dramatic final day of the season, Ben Rhydding, who had already clinched promotion, were favourites to finish top.

They only needed a point from their final game against Bardsey but suffered a surprise seven-wicket defeat after scoring only 155-8.

That opened the door to Menston and they took the opportunity with a five-wicket win over fourth-placed Colton.

The experienced all-round John Storey chose the perfect moment to score his first century for the club.

Story made 106 and steered his side to their victory target.

But Storey wasn’t the only hero on the final day. Ben Purvis (5-45) and Charlie Dracup (3-59) bowled Colton for 176.

Menston finished a point ahead of Ben Rhydding and six ahead of Ilkley who missed out for the second successive season.

Ilkley, knew they had to beat Skipton and hope Menston slipped up in order to take the second promotion spot. Sadly for them, that didn’t happen, but they did all they could to keep their own hopes alive.

Alex Bailey (47) and Rory Kroon (37) helped them post a score of 212-8 and then Richard Harrison (6-37) and Andrew Wheeler (4-26) skittling out Skipton for 88.

There was a tense finish at the foot of Division One, where Adel – who had been in the bottom two since June 5 – stunned runners-up Beckwithshaw.

That made the game between Rawdon and Pool crucial and, having stumbled so often this season, Rawdon found their best form at the right time.

Stewart Smith (137) and Jamie Pickering (69no) put on 137 for the third wicket as Rawdon set a big target of 249-3.

Bowlers Stuart Dobson (4-37) and Andrew Doidge (3-44) carried on the good work as Pool stumbled to 115-8 and relegation.

Newly-crowned champions Burley suffered only their third defeat of the season against third-placed Green Lane.

Burley looked to have bowled themselves into a winning position when Shane Etherington (5-65) and Jason Wright (5-14) bowled out the visitors for 173.

For once Burley’s batting failed them. Richard Brook made 46 but Burley were dismissed for 154.

The consistent Adam Waite (106) steered Guiseley towards a four-wicket win over Kirkstall Educational.

Otley ended their campaign with a two-run win over Collingham. Matt O’Grady (71) and Andrew Rhodes (53) helped Otley to a total of 213. John Brough (7-66) enabled Otley to bowl out ColIngham 211.

In Division Two, Olicanian lost to champions Follifoot and Silsden went down by five wickets at runners-up Bilton.

Having finished last season rock bottom with just 11 points, Addingham underlined their improvement with a Division Three win over Horsforth.

Andrew Robinson (59) took his tally to 215 runs in the last three games as Horsforth reached 127-6, in which Richard Hey took 4-36.

Robinson then picked up four wickets but could not prevent Addingham getting home with two wickets in hand, Neil Freeman top-scoring with 36 not out.It was a good note on which to end the season.
