BRAMHOPE player Shayan Siraj helped Ackworth School sweep all before them at the Butterfly English Schools Table Tennis Association national team finals.
The 15-year-old is part of the Table Tennis England National Talent Academy based at the school in Pontefract.
And he helped ensure no slip-ups as the favourites won the under-16 boys’ event in Hinckley at a canter.
The squad of Siraj, Jamie Liu, Sam Chesterman and Reece Chamdal dropped only three sets between them all day – one each by Siraj, Liu and Chesterman – as they beat Budworth College (Weymouth), Range High School (Formby) and Ernest Bevin College (Tooting Bec), all 8-0.
Siraj said: “We performed well. Our expectations were quite high and we dealt with the pressure well.”
Siraj will this weekend be taking on the other top ten players in the Table Tennis England rankings at the Junior National Cup in Milton Keynes
