GUISELEY will be aiming to stay with the early pacesetters in the Vanarama Conference North tonight after being one of just six clubs to open their campaign with a win.

The Lions earned a narrow 1-0 victory at Leamington on Saturday and want to build on that result as Stockport County visit Nethermoor.

The former Football League outfit were beaten 1-0 by last season’s runners-up North Ferriby United. on the opening day and will be anxious to open their account.

Guiseley manager Mark Bower was delighted to get off to a winning start and he is looking for more with two home games on the trot.

He said, “It was a mixed pre-season in terms of results and performances but we said the lads in the team on Saturday that they were the ones in possession of the shirts and they should do their best to keep them.

“They played really well and it would be difficult to make changes after a performance like that. It will be a test against Stockport though. They will have benefited from last year’s experience in this division and they recruited well over the summer.

“But we had great home form towards the end of last season and we said to the boys that we want to be unbeaten after this week – Worcester City visit Nethermoor on Saturday. If we could get a couple of wins and put nine points on the board, that would be fantastic.”

Thackley are another club seeking back to back victories as they host Handsworth Parramore in the Toolstation Northern Counties East Premier Division. The Dennyboys enjoyed a comfortable 3-1 win at Barton Town at the weekend.

In Division One, Eccleshill United will be looking to put Saturday’s nightmare opening behind them when they journey to Hall Road Rangers. The Eagles were hammered 6-0 at home and finished the game with nine men after Ishmael Mills and Jordan Talbot were both dismissed.
