GUISELEY manager Mark Bower has praised goalkeeper Steve Drench and midfielder Gavin Rothery after they were named in the Skrill Conference North's team of the year.

In fact, Drench has been named in the elite 11 so often that he has forgotten how many.

He tweeted, with a reference to their continual play-off heartbreak: "Just been informed it's 4th not 3rd year for me in the team of the year. Swap all four for a promotion."

Bower, who laughed at Drench's memory loss, added: "He is consistently an excellent goalkeeper and, although he is not the tallest, he comes out for crosses and commands his area.

"But it also his kick outs and the way he picks out a colleague that is so impressive. His award is well deserved."

Bower added: "The same applies to Gavin, who just got stronger and stronger as the season went on."

Guiseley might have suffered another end-of-season anti-climax but they did pick up one club gong - the Conference North's Respect Award.

This all-embracing honour came as a result of the efforts of players, management, volunteers and fans.

Guiseley chairman Phil Rogerson said: "It is all to do with the number of volunteers we have at the club, the FA's Respect campaign and how we make match-day a welcoming experience for all, even down to things like the handshakes before the kick-off."

The Lions have also announced that their season-ticket prices and match-day charges for 2014-15 will be unchanged.

Early-bird prices, which are applicable up to June 30, are £380 for a family ticket (two adults, two under-12s), £190 for an adult, £110 for concessions and £65 for 12-16 year olds, with under-12s (as of August 9, 2014) free if they are accompanied by an adult.

This means that, providing the early-bird option is taken, an adult can watch all the pre-season and league matches for under £8 per game.

The fees include all pre-season friendlies and Academy fixtures, but not cup matches, while guaranteed match-day programmes means each price will rise by £45. After June 30, the respective amounts go up to £400, £205, £120 and £70.

Completed season-ticket application forms should be sent to Guiseley AFC, c/o 8 Viewlands Crescent, Menston, Ilkley, LS29 6BH or by e-mail to guiseley.football@hotmail.co.uk.

Rogerson added: "We think our season-ticket prices again represent excellent value, especially given the way that we play football and the quality of our pitch.

"The pitch is now level to within an inch both longways and crossways, and it is amazing how about a foot has been taken off the surface in front of the sponsors' stand.

"The weather has been warm and wet, and you can already see the green shoots of recovery!"

Skrill North Team of the Year: Steve Drench (Guiseley AFC), Simon Grand (AFC Telford United), Carl Piergianni (Boston United), Darren Campion (Hednesford Town), Adam Griffin (Altrincham), Nicky Clee (Altrincham), Shaun Densmore (Altrincham), Gavin Rothery (Guiseley AFC), James Walshaw (Altrincham), Anthony Wilson (North Ferriby United), Ricky Miller (Boston United)

Chester FC have signed 31-year-old former Bradford and Guiseley goalkeeper Jon Worsnop from Conference Premier side Alfreton Town.

Worsnop is no stranger to Chester fans, having been the understudy to Wayne Brown in the days of Chester City.

The experienced keeper joined Chester City from the Bantams in 2002, spending three years there.

More recently he was at Leigh Genesis, before signing for Alfreton last December.

Worsnop has also represented Bradford Park Avenue, Aberystwyth Town, Droylsden, Witton Albion, Ossett Town, Worksop Town. and FC United of Manchester.
