Ilkley Cycling Club’s Ged Millward continued his winning form of recent weeks to finish at the top of the leaderboard in the Border City Wheelers Open 50 mile time trial last weekend.

The event used a combination of heavy roads and numerous long drags in the Keswick and Cockermouth area.

After some strong perform- ances this season Millward was one of the top seeds in the event covering the challenging course in a time of 1:50:47.

This was the fastest time posted on the day by nearly two minutes and gave him an average speed of over 27 mph over the distance. Earlier in the week Millward warmed up by posting the fifth-fastest time in the City Road Club 10-mile time trial over at Hull, where he recorded his season fastest time at this distance of 20:17.

Elsewhere, Richmond Den- ton finished 16th in last week’s Yorkshire Cycling Federation 15-mile time trial with a time of 33:16, with Paul Di Mambro just behind on 33:58.

Other Ilkley CC riders were Claire Jessop (37:52) and Greg Jessop (39:58).
