Trading got off to a healthy start for the latest high-street arrival in Ilkley last week.
Scarborough-based chain, Boyes, opened its newest store on Friday, at Ilkley’s Railway Road – the group’s 39th outlet.
The store has moved into the premises vacated earlier this year by Anglia Co-operatives’ Westgate department store, and employs around 30 people.
Chairman and joint managing director of the chain, Andrew Boyes, said: “We’re very happy with the number of people who have been to visit us and the reaction, we’ve had a lot of very positive comments about the store.
The store stocks a range of goods, including clothing, toiletries, stationery, toys, confectionery, homewares, DIY, soft furnishings and has a craft and haberdashery section.

So, this store stocks clothing, toiletries, stationery, toys, confectionery, homewares, DIY, and soft furnishings, much of which is cheaper than other local shops. Funny how the Tesco bashers now have nothing to say about Boyes taking trade away from local shops. Perhaps the interests of the town is not really their priority after all, or maybe Boyes is simply not high profile enough for them...?
