AUTHORS, illustrators and other famous faces from across the country have been busy making bookmarks over the past month for The Bookmark Project - created by 1st Burley Brownies as part of their fundraising for Katiyo Primary School in Zimbabwe.
Their original bookmarks go on sale today in a special online auction which hopes to raise money towards buying reading books and building a nursery classroom at the school in Zimbabwe.
High profile doodlers include Johnny and Alistair Brownlee, Emma Thompson, Caroline Quentin, Julia Donaldson, Helen Lederer, Nick Sharratt and the cast of the West End musical The Girls, along with a number of very talented authors and illustrators.
Children at Burley Oaks and Burley and Woodhead CE Primary School have also been busy making bookmarks for the Bookmark Project, with their bookmarks being judged by illustrator Stephen Waterhouse and were sold at after school sales.
