PEOPLE across Wharfedale are being urged to ensure they have any prescription medicines needed ahead of the bank holiday.
The plea was issued this week by NHS clinical commissioning groups in Bradford, Airedale, Wharfedale and Craven.
Spokesman Dr Dave Tatham said: "Doctors' surgeries will be closed on Monday so please remember to plan ahead – and take medicines with you if you are planning a trip away.
"If you are taking regular medicines, making sure you have enough stocks to last over the bank holiday weekend by getting organised with your repeat prescriptions is essential.
"This could prevent you becoming ill or even avert a medical emergency."
He added that pharmacies could provide confidential expert advice, medicines and appropriate treatments for common illnesses such as flu-like symptoms, allergic rashes and headaches.

People needing non-emergency medical help can call NHS 111 for advice.
