AUDIENCES got into the swing of things on The Grove in Ilkley at the weekend as two open air concerts continued the month of Ilkley Summer Festival entertainment.

Music from the 40s to the Noughties was the attraction on Saturday afternoon, before the Dolce Vita cabaret made its return to The Grove in the evening.

The afternoon concert was a celebration of VE Day, featuring The Honeybirds, a George Formby tribute and the talents of local singer, Shirley Britton.

It was the turn of festival favourites, Dominic Halpin and the Honey Bs to entertain in the evening,

Guests enjoyed al fresco dining before dancing along to the music.

The concerts marked one of five big weekends of entertainment held as part of Ilkley Summer Festival.

The event began with Yorkshire Day celebrations on August 1, and the main attraction the following weekend was the continental street market in The Grove.

This weekend, it will be the new Ilkley Jazz Festival, which takes centre stage.

Headline event at the King's Hall tomorrow evening will be a concert by Jacqui Dankworth. daughter of the jazz musician, arranger and composer, Sir John Dankworth, and the singer, Dame Cleo Laine.

The weekend will feature a host of jazz workshops, open-air entertainment, a late night jazz jam on Saturday and a jazz brunch.

Another major attraction on Saturday will be the 62nd Ilkley Flower Show, taking place at the Clarke Foley Centre in Cunliffe Road

The event will be open to the public from 2pm. Admission is £1.

Visitors will be able to see a large variety of flowers, fruit, vegetables, crafts, art, photography and more, including many entries in children's classes.

The final weekend of the festival will again feature the Ilkley Parish Council-organised concert in The Grove, being held on August 29.
