PARENTS and pupils at Westville House School in Ilkley commemorated Armistice Day with a service of Remembrance held at the school.

With the theme around the red poppy of remembrance, all the children had made beautiful poppies which were presented and ‘planted’ at the beginning of the service. This was followed by a mix of poetry readings and songs and a very poignant two-minute silence. All the children expressed their thoughts about remembering those who have fought for their country.

Wonderful renditions of Pack up your Troubles, It’s a long way to Tipperary and Keep the Home Fires Burning helped to create a very fitting tribute.

The children then went on to create a human poppy entitled ‘The Little People Poppy’ which featured all the children in the school.
