A grant from Bradford Council has paid for a new scoreboard at Addingham Cricket Club.

Councillor Adrian Naylor (Ind), who represents the Craven ward, helped secure a grant, in excess of £5,000.

“It’s fully electronic and can be operated from the clubhouse,” said treasurer Graham Sutcliffe.

Addingham CC has also received around £9,000 in grants to carry out drainage work at the cricket ground, on Main Street.

The first phase of the work was completed at the beginning of the 2013 season, and has “made a massive difference”, said Mr Sutcliffe.

Coun Naylor said the second phase of the drainage work, which was due to be done this winter, had to be postponed until after the 2014 season because of inclement weather.

Another project that Mr Sutcliffe said was “in the pipeline” involves creating a new practice net facility in an Addingham Parish Council-owned field across the road from the cricket ground. That project, which would cost £15,000, is in the planning permission stage.

Mr Sutcliffe said the grant money and projects had resulted in them attracting new first and second-team players.
