Send us your winters scenes to win camera
Updated 2:20pm Friday 24th January 2014 in Local news
Since launching our ‘winter scenes’ photographic competition last week, you have been sending in lots of great pictures from across the Wharfedale and Aireborough districts.
Sponsored by Panasonic UK and run in conjunction with Annings camera shop in Ilkley and the Youth Committee of the Rotary Club of Ilkley, the competitions aims to focus on photography by young people.
The theme of the competition is Winter Scenes, so we are hoping to see lots of crisp, nature pictures – possibly with ice and maybe even snow, depending on what the weather does in the next few weeks.
There are two age categories – under 18 and over 18. There will be a first prize of a Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ40 digital camera for the winner of each age category, with a runners-up prize in each category of a 20inx16in canvas print of the photograph.
The closing date for entries will be Friday, February 28. We will run a selection of entries in the interim, before judges choose the top five from each age category, which will then be printed in the paper and readers will vote for their favourite.
The Rotary Club’s Youth Committee plays an active role in encouraging young people to prosper and interact with the community. Some of its projects include running the Young Dales Chef competition, organising the Pancake Race, holding a handwriting competition and a technology tournament, as well as running a Leadership Award.
