Otley Athletic Club welcomes beginners, even if you can run only 100 yards
10:00am Saturday 18th January 2014 in Local news
Otley Athletic Club is aiming to help anyone who made a New Year resolution to get fit.
The club’s beginners running group, which meets at 6.15pm at Otley Cricket Club each Tuesday, is keen to welcome new members.
Co-ordinated by a qualified leader in running fitness, Billy Rayner, Absolute Beginners gets two groups running and/or walking for about 30 minutes each week.
The group is open to all, including accompanied children over 11.
Billy said: “Absolute Beginners is about helping anyone with a desire to get fit through running but who may have doubts about their ability, or how to even start.
“The emphasis is very much on how to enjoy it and we cater for anyone. Even if you can only run 100 metres we can help you improve and reach whatever target you wish.
“The group launched about 12 months ago and has been a great success with several members making the move to the full club and even taking part in local races.”
