A touch of fashion will come to the Ilkley Literature Festival when Yorkshire-based expert Jayne Sheridan reveals some industry secrets. On October 1, Miss Sheridan will be sharing anecdotes and reading from her fashion media book Fashion Media Promotion: The New Black Magic, at the Wildman Theatre at Ilkley Playhouse at 9pm.

The book looks at how fashion, as an industry, has adapted itself over the last 60 years to always command an important role in the global marketplace. The talk will appeal to fashion lovers, film buffs and writers as it searches every corner of the fashion world and will include beautiful images of some of our most famous fashion icons.

“I think Yorkshire has more links to the fashion culture than anyone realises, so it’s great to be able to connect with people here,” Miss Sheridan said. “When I was working at Dean Clough I learned that Jean Muir and Vivienne Westwood sourced fabrics from mills here. West Yorkshire mills still provide Savile Row with the best fabrics in the world some of which are made into suits for James Bond!”
