Thre organiser of a successful charity ball wants to thank all those who supported it as she prepares for this year’s anniversary event.

Almost 250 people danced the night away just before Christmas at the 2010 Holly Ball, held at Ilkley’s Kings Hall and Winter Garden.

The final figure is still being totalled up but organiser Fiona Mann is expecting to hand over a “significant sum” to Yorkshire Cancer Research.

She said: “I would like to send out a huge ‘thank you’ to everyone who attended and made the event such a memorable evening, and to all the local and national companies who also lent their support to such a worthwhile cause, in particular, Virtual College, the main sponsor, which is based in Ilkley.”

Now she is preparing to mark the 25th anniversary of Ilkley’s Christmas charity ball – which originally started life in the late 1980s as the Rotaract Christmas Ball.

The date has been set for Saturday December 10, and the venue will again be the King’s Hall and Winter Garden, following a break of a few years from the historic public halls.

Mrs Mann said: “It’s been a few years since the event was last held at the venue and inevitably there were one or two minor glitches in the format and running of the evening, which will definitely be ironed out for this year’s big event.”
