Oyez! Oyez! The Duck Race is on its way.
The ducks are primed and raring to go in the Great Ilkley Duck Race on Saturday April 20. Anyone fancying a dabble will still be able to buy duck tickets on Saturday morning, either on The Grove, or at the Riverside Hotel or by the launch point on New Brook Street bridge over the river Wharfe – but all sales will stop at 2pm to enable last minute entrants to be prepared for the Race at 2.30pm.
Tickets can also be bought online until late evening on Friday 19 – search Ilkley Wharfedale Rotary.
There is a top prize of £200 for the first duck home with the next five ducks also winning cash prizes. The organisers, Ilkley Wharfedale Rotary Club, are urging everyone to turn up and enjoy the fun – but if you can’t be there they will contact the winners.
The event starts at 2.15pm with the Red Business Duck Race before the big launch at 2.30pm which Rotary hopes will raise over £10,000 for local charities and every duck helps.
