Turnip Fish Theatre Company; a company local to Leeds with a focus on bringing theatre to our communities, is bringing Otley’s eerie history to life with a ghost and history walking tour around the town. The tour begins in The Market Place at Otley’s Clock Tower, and ends at one of Otley’s ‘most haunted’ pubs The Black Horse.
A spokesperson said: "The tour uncovers Otley’s rich, often strange history. The tour travels all around the town centre, down to the river and back up again towards the Black Horse. From the brave Navvies who built our nations railways, to the infamous ‘Eye Licker’ who operated in the Market place, there’s many a grim fact to be explored throughout Otley’s past. Why not hobble along the cobbles with your ghoulish guide and discover Otley’s “spooky, uncanny, spine-chilling-y” past yourself?
"The tour runs for an hour and is presented by ghoulish guide: Spindleshanks McScrew. Do be sure to keep an eye out for the Wharfedale Widow, who is said to linger through the dark hours, reliving her own story over and over again."
Tickets are on sale for £12 for adults and £10 for children, with infants aged 0-3 going free and brave hounds more than welcome.
Tickets can be purchased on the Turnip Fish website at: https://turnipfishtheatre.com/otley-ghost-tours
The tour launched on February 24 and they will now be two tours running every Saturday, one at 5.30pm and one at 7pm.
Tours last one hour and end at The Black Horse, where customers can receive a token from their guide for a free drink.
