ILKLEY’S MP Robbie Moore has criticised a “lack of joined-up thinking” between officials on Bradford Council and developers following major traffic congestion on the A65 through to Ilkley between Ben Rhydding and Burley by-pass.

The MP says he has received numerous complaints from constituents about disruption and delays caused by the new development and has written to the Council requesting action.

The major works at the A65 Manor Park are being undertaken by David Wilson Homes and will provide a new roundabout entrance into the housing development land to the south side of the A65.

The works commenced on November 27and have a current estimated completion date of June, 28, 2024.

Robbie Moore MP said: “Many thanks to constituents who have kindly contacted me about the horrendous levels of traffic congestion in and around Ilkley at the moment.

"To me this just demonstrates a complete lack of joined-up thinking from Bradford Council, who have decided to sign off these schemes right in the run-up to Christmas.

"It’s a disservice to many of our small independent businesses who need the support of people coming into Ilkley to shop with them, and of course it's having a negative impact on everybody going about their day-to-day lives in and around Ilkley.

"I have written to Bradford Council today asking for an urgent update and to try and resolve some of the extreme traffic congestion issues.”

Bradford Council has been contacted for comment.
