GUISELEY have announced the signing of Laurence Sorhaindo ahead of the new campaign.

The forward, who will be 26 on June 6, is a product of the Bradford City Academy, having joined them after playing football for Wyke Wanderers in his home City of Bradford.

Sorhaindo joined City aged 13 and on leaving his first dalliance with men’s football came with Bradford side Campion.

He impressed Silsden manager Danny Forrest who took him to Cobbeydale where he scored 12 goals in 22 games before sustaining ankle ligament damage.

The striker recovered and having caught the eye of the Brighouse Town management moved there in 2020 only to have his progress halted by Covid 19.

His form at Brighouse lead him to become one of the best strikers in the Pitching In Northern Premier League East Division, his 23 goals last season putting him second only to former Guiseley hit man Adam Boyes, who was hitting the net regularly for Marske with 28.

Sorhaindo didn’t take long to decide to join Guiseley, he admitted: “I was attracted by the size of the club, the excellent playing surface and the infrastructure. Everyone has heard of Guiseley AFC and I am looking forward to playing for them.”

He added: “They have a good fan base and I am looking forward to helping to get Guiseley back to where they belong.”

As a Liverpool fan Sorhaindo’s idol as a youngster was Fernando Torres but he said that he now tries to play his own game and not model himself on anyone.

He is a former pupil of St Bede’s Grammar School, Bradford.

In other news, goalkeeper Cam Mason has joined Curzon Ashton for an undisclosed fee.

Signed in January on an 18 month contract, Mason was very much a part of Guiseley's plans for the upcoming season however having received offers from several clubs, the player indicated a wish to move to Curzon Ashton and the best deal possible was agreed for his departure.

News on the shot-stopper's replacement will be released in due course.
