BARNOLDSWICK Town manager Andy Harrison has hit out at the North West Football League after his side played their third game in five days.

Prior to last week's brutal schedule of Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday matches at home, Town had not played since January 2 due to frozen and waterlogged grounds.

And the club, who play in the Premier Division, will play at Irlam tonight, making in four games in seven days.

"It has taken it toll, there's no two ways about that," said Harrison. "It's ridiculous when lads have full-time jobs.

"It's terrible and is something that our league and county FA need to look at. It's not fair on the lads or the club as these games require a lot of preparation. Our pitch has taken a battering.

"I'm absolutely full of pride in our players and the club as a whole for their hard work."

"We had three games in five days and won one of them. We probably would have won all three had it not been for individual errors.

"I'm not making excuses and to be fair, we're a fit side.

"We've got through unscathed on the injury front but there will be some fatigue."

Town is coming off a 3-3 draw on Saturday against Lower Breck and is going into tonight's game at Irlam targeting a top half of the table finish this season.

"We're looking forward to it and getting a much-needed three points. We want to be in top half of the table," said Harrison.
