STEETON lost 4-2 on Saturday at home to Daisy Hill in a crazy second half which saw five goals scored in 15 minutes of Division One action of the North West Counties League.

After observing a minute's silence in remembrance of the Queen, the two teams kicked off.

Daisy Hill won two corners in the first 13 minutes but neither troubled Steeton.

The game had a very scrappy start with both team struggling to test the goalkeepers.

After another Daisy Hill corner came to nothing, Steeton had a chance in the 30th minute when an Daisy Hill error let Andy Briggs in on goal, but his shot went straight to the keeper.

Steeton pushed forward again, but Toby Jeffrey's cross/shot was dragged wide, and moments later Luke Baldwin's shot from the edge of the area was lifted over the bar.

After Steeton's first corner sailed harmlessly out of play they went close again when Baldwin's cross was parried straight on to Briggs' knee and went just over.

With the game coming alive, Daisy go straight up the other end and Connor Hughes's effort was well saved at the feet of James Catlow.

Just before half time, Steeton had a chance go begging when Josh Walne's cross was headed over by Ben Wignall.

The second half started quickly when a Daisy Hill free kick was deflected out for a corner, which was then claimed by Catlow.

After Briggs was brought down in the penalty area, Baldwin sent the keeper the wrong way and Steeton took a 1-0 lead in the 49th minute.

Minutes later, Steeton made it 2-0 when Mo Farhan Subhani won possession and found Wignall. His shot was parried and Briggs forced home the rebound.

Steeton almost made it three in the 55th minute when a lofted cross from Walne was volleyed at goal by Baldwin, but the keeper got down at his near post to turn it away for a corner.

Two minutes later Daisy Hill had a corner cleared, but Samuel Olawumi flicked the ball back in over the keeper to cut the lead to 2-1.

In the 60th minute, Daisy Hill won a penalty after a handball. Jake O'Brien came on as a sub and scored from the spot, sending the keeper the wrong way.

Daisy Hill were back at it and a mix-up at the back saw a man get behind the defence. His cross found Jordan Lazenbury who turned it home to give Daisy Hill a 3-2 lead in the 63rd minute.

The pace of the game slowed and there was a lengthy stoppage due to an injury.

This led to six minutes of added on time and a succession of corners saw Steeton in extra time left Daisy Hill with defending to do.

However, in the third minute of extra time Steeton relinquished possession and skipper Connor Hughes finished neatly to give the visitors a 4-2 victory.
