AN MP is urging people to nominate female led businesses for a scheme which aims to promote women entrepreneurs.

Leeds North West MP Alex Sobel launched the search as people celebrated International Women’s Day.

Mr Sobel said:“In recognition of International Women’s Day, I want to give everyone in the constituency the chance to nominate a local female-run SME (small to medium-sized enterprise) for the MP HERoes project.”

He added “If you know of any local women business-owners that you would like to nominate, please fill out our form at: https://alexsobel.co.uk/mp-heroes/”

MP HERoes aims to put women entrepreneurs at the forefront of the political agenda to create role models.

The scheme highlights female entrepreneurship throughout the country and across all sectors and industries, linking each MP with a successful woman business owner in their constituency. This includes year-round activities, from high profile media opportunities at Parliament to regional and local events all supported by The Women & Enterprise All-Party Parliamentary Group.

All nominations must be for a woman who owns a business in the constituency. The business must have been established for at least 2 years, employing people in the local area.

Nominations end at midday on Tuesday, March 15.
