A FLURRY of snow added to the festive feel at Yeadon's Christmas lights switch on.

Crowds turned out to enjoy the event, complete with entertainment, in the Town Hall Square on Friday.

Otley and Yeadon councillor Colin Campbell, who is chairman of the town's lights committee, said the event had gone well and the snow had added a Christmassy touch.

"Could I give a big thank you to all the volunteers who helped out this year and in particular Yeadon's Peace Dance Academy, St Oswalds Choir and Breeze winner Fabienne Clarke who all came and sang for the crowd," he said.

"We were entertained at the end of the evening by children from Queensway, Rufford Park and St Peters and St Pauls schools who were joined on stage by Hannah Wellman and Lewis Brown Yeadon's Carnival Queen and King for carol singing and most important of all the light switch on.

"A big thank you also goes to Father Christmas who though very busy at this time of year managed to find time to call in and see us."
