An Ilkley councillor is urging former council tenants in the town to show off their creative talents at a special home and garden show coming up.

Tenants of the Bradford Community Housing Trust (BCHT) who have a garden, floral display, patio or room makeover that looks special can enter a competition.

All they have to do is take a photo of it and send it along with their name, address and telephone number to FREEPOST BCHT GROUP or email a photo to (home&garden@bchtgroup.org) by August 1.

The photos will be displayed at the 2007 BCHT Home and Garden Show which takes place at The Midland Hotel, Bradford, on Monday, September 10.

The show will feature special celebrity guests including TV designer Linda Barker, BBC Radio Leeds gardening presenter Joe Maiden and award winning local restaurateur, Omar Khan.

There will be a gardeners' question time, a cookery demonstration, flower arranging displays and the presentation of awards for the best gardens and room makeovers sent in by BCHT tenants.

Everyone who enters will receive free invitations to the show.

Ilkley district councillor Martin Smith, who is the chairman of the BCHT Group, said: "The annual home and garden event provides a wonderful showcase of people's talents and this year's celebration promises to be a bright and colourful treat after the rainy summer.

"It's a great opportunity for Ilkley tenants to show their pride in their garden, homes and neighbourhoods. They can also hear from the experts how to keep their garden blooming and their home looking like a designer pad."
