DETAILS have been announced for the 2017 Ilkley Art Show.

This year's event takes place in the King's Hall and Winter Garden on Friday, August 11 and Saturday, August 12.

New venues, faces and products - plus a painting competition - are being promised alongside all the usual stalls and an art exhibition featuring original works by more than 40 artists.

A show spokesman said: "Visitors to the show will find plenty to see and do.

"Art materials will be available from Winsor and Newton, Derwent, Caran d’Ache, Wallace Seymour (previously known as Pip Seymour), Hahnemuhule, and Daler Rowney, and more.

"There will also be free demonstrations throughout the day undertaken by Charles Evans, Jeremy Taylor, Tony Hogan and Peter Woolley to name but a few.

"Robert Dutton will also be demonstrating and, on Saturday, will be holding a Masterclass Session on the stage - entrance by ticket only - where he will share his mixed-media skills with the audience.

"This year we have added two new venues, too, for our ever-popular workshops with both Ilkley Arts Studio and Cornmill Artspace being made available for us to use.

"And we have a varied programme of workshops including, for the first time, print-making and screen-printing sessions.

"There will also be ‘free flow watercolour’, Brusho, and Derwent coloured pencils."

The exhibition will be held upstairs in the Winter Garden while an array of trade stands, including demonstrators, will be set up downstairs in both the Winter Garden and King's Hall.

Entries for the exhibition - open to all artists - are being accepted now and application forms can be downloaded from ilkleyartshow.co.uk .

Three prizes, provided by Winsor & Newton, Derwent and Daler Rowney, will be awarded to the creators of the Best Picture In Show, Best Newcomer To Ilkley Art Show and - based on a public vote - Favourite Artist.

This year's show will also feature a painting competition for the first time with a year's subscription to either The Artist or Leisure Painter magazines as the prize.

Tickets for the Art Show are available from The Art Shop on Hawksworth Street, Ilkley - telephone (01943) 609031, e-mail info@theartshops.co.uk .
