A POSTER designed by a Burley Oaks Primary School pupil will be used to advertise this year's village féte.

Rebecca Yeadon, 7, designed a poster that was judged to best capture the spirit of the féte by the school's Parents' Association.

Head teacher Roy Pallas said: "It is a really visually appealing piece of artwork that shows lots of the stalls and activities that will be going on."

Rebecca was presented with a framed A3 copy of her poster in a school assembly and also won a set of artist''s materials.

Burley Oaks School has hosted the village féte since it opened in 2000 and the event always pulls a large crowd.

Mr Pallas said: "We have a winning formula and we add a couple of new things each year to make it a really good community day.

"The new things this year are the go-karts and a samba display. Last year we had the Donkey Sanctuary and they are coming again this year so the children can pet the donkeys."

Other stalls and activities include a tug-of-war, gladiators, coconut shy, pet show, bouncy castle, swing boats, tombolas and refreshments.

Money raised at the féte will go to the school and various community groups, including the Scouts and Guides, Burley gardeners and Christian Aid.

The féte will be held on Saturday from 2pm-4pm at Burley Oaks Primary School and admission is free.
