FLOODING on a Horsforth footpath has been tackled with £5,000 of new drainage works.
The path, which runs from South Lee and along the Horsforth School boundary before joining with Church Lane, is well used by local people and school children. Its tendency to flood has caused a headache for people using the path, but it is hoped the new drainage system will allow water to flow away, resolving the perennial problem during bad weather.
Horsforth ward councillor Dawn Collins said: "Many people have mentioned to me how irritating it was when the path flooded. Parents had to deal with children coming home from school with wet clothes and shoes, mud was being tramped into people’s houses and people were generally fed up with having to negotiate a flooded path.
"It took a little pressure behind the scenes to get the £5000 funding for this work together but persistence has paid off and I am delighted that the new drains have been installed. I am sure local people will quickly notice what an improvement the work will bring."
The £5000 funding was agreed by the Outer North West Community Committee in November last year.
