A new hall for sport and drama at Ghyll Royd School will be completed by the end of August.

The development is the start of a huge improvement scheme which is expected to be completed for the beginning of term in September.

The school's new facilities will include a music room, art spaces, changing rooms and three additional classrooms. It will also create space for a new library and dining room.

Head teacher Irene Connor said: "We have not marketed the sports hall yet, but we are hoping it will help us grow from 98 pupils now to around 130 next year.

"It's great to be at the helm of all this development and the boys love seeing the diggers on site.

"People have supported the school and worked really hard so that everything can be ready for the new term."
