THE return leg of Ilkley Grammar School's first Spanish Exchange began when 17 Spanish students and their two teachers arrived in Ilkley.
They spent the weekend sightseeing and shopping in Leeds, and went on various family days out with their hosts. The rest of the week was very busy.
The students visited York where they enjoyed a guided tour of the city and cathedral, as well as finding time to shop.
They took in the history of Saltaire and Haworth, went for a walk on Ilkley Moor, spent time in lessons with their partners, including learning how to bake scones in Food Technology.
They also took part in a quiz on Wednesday evening, and went on a trip to Manchester where they visited the Museum of Science and Industry and Old Trafford football ground. On the way back they stopped off for a traditional meal of fish and chips in Leeds.
After the hectic visit, a teacher at the foreign language department of the school said they were delighted at how successful the exchange had been and the school hoped to organise many more.
