Otley Town 3 Shelley FC 1

TOWN’S first West Yorkshire League Premier Division win of the new season was overshadowed by the sending off of leading scorer and proverbial bad-boy Toby Harris.

Severely provoked though he was, his reaction gave the referee little choice but to brandish the red card with the Shelley player also receiving his marching orders.

Harris will now miss three matches which will put the brakes on his superb start to the season. He had added to his tally already, scoring his sixth goal in three games to put Town two up after Scott Hardcastle had given Town an early lead with a fine left-foot drive.

Town were pegged back just before the break when Shelley scored through a speculative cross which sailed over keeper Chris Brodie.

The second half was a niggly affair with both teams becoming ever more bad tempered particularly after the dismissals. Town made the game safe when Scott Firth slotted the ball past the Shelley keeper following a great pass from left-back Greg Lake.

Town face newly-promoted League leaders Carlton Athletic at home on Saturday (2.30pm).
