An MP is backing an attempt to stop horses illegally straying around the fields of Yorkshire. Shipley constituency MP, Philip Davies, wants councils to have powers to detain a horse tied up or roaming illegally in any public place.
Mr Davies said: “We cannot have horses roaming across land fly-grazing without the landowner’s consent, but what we need to do is make sure this is properly enforced. We do not want to see a horse taken away one day, for its owner to collect it and then leave it somewhere illegal the next day again.”
