ST PETER’S CHURCH, ADDINGHAM:
Over the past two weeks, we celebrated great events in the Christian story spanning over a third of a century.
On the first Sunday of the New Year, we were at last able to sing We Three Kings as we celebrated the arrival – late as might be expected of wise men – of the star-watchers to worship the new-born king. Last Sunday, we leapt forward 30 years to Jesus’ baptism and to the case of the new Christian converts in Ephesus who despite their baptism, knew nothing of the spirit of God Jesus had left behind. In our intercessions, we asked that we, mainly, perhaps, a mature and greying congregation, might become as conscious of this Holy Spirit in our lives and church as our children and grand-children are of their Wi-fi and iCloud environments.
The Wulfherans held their annual dinner – a spectacular four-course meal cooked by our home team led by Wendy Croft and an occasion where we could all be conscious of a perfect mix of the material and the spiritual.
