School pupils in and around Otley won't need to fire up the computer the next time they want to check a word.
Because the Rotary Club of Otley Chevin has presented dictionaries to more than 200 Year 6 pupils as they prepare to begin their secondary education.
The books, under the Rotary's Dictionary 4 Life project, were distributed at all seven of the Otley area's primary schools and Menston Primary.
The club's community service chairman, Roy Tate, said: "We believe the dictionaries, which we have presented for the last six years, encourage young people to read and research for themselves rather than relying solely on the Internet for information."
Funds to pay for the books were raised raised through Carol singing at local restaurants, a sports dinner, and an annual golf day.
