A FILM revisiting a South-East Asian nation 20 years on from documentary which exposed a massacre to the world has won an award for a Ilkley film maker.

Ilkley-based film and television producer, Peter A Gordon, produced the film, Bloodshot: The Dreams and Nighmares of East Timor, charting what had become of people he first filmed in 1991.

The film was named Best Factual Programme at Royal Television Society (Yorkshire Centre) Awards 2014, held at the Royal Armouries Museum, Lees, on Friday (June 27).

Chairman of the RTS Yorkshire Centre, Mike Best, said: "This year the quality and quantity of the entries has once again been

outstanding. There is no doubt that this year's entrants have certainly put our hard-working judging panels to the test."

Mr Gordon first visited Timor in 1991 with Kirsty Sword, his researcher, and Max Stahl the cameraman. The three of them made an

undercover documentary in East Timor., which went on to change the course of that nation - and lead to extraordinary changes in the lives of the crew.

Bloodshot: The Dreams & Nightmares of East Timor' is the profoundly moving human story of the individuals at the heart of a bloody

revolution, the lives of the production crew, and of a nation still in the process of healingwhere justice sometimes has to be sacrificed

for reconciliation.

Kirsty Sword married the guerrilla leader who went on to become president, and Mr Stahl now lives in Timor.
