Spring blooms came under the scrutiny of the Yorkshire in Bloom judges yesterday, Wednesday, in their first visit to Ilkley this year.
Judges Timothy Stewart and Brendan Mowforth were shown around Ilkley town centre, and various green a floral features such as Darwin Gardens and St Margaret’s Park by members of Ilkley in Bloom.
Mr Mowforth said: “We’re very privileged to be shown around. The weather’s beautiful today, and we started up on the edge of the moor.”
Spring judging was cancelled last year after the late winter, leaving just the summer judging to give towns and villages across Yorkshire their final score in the contest.
This year, entrants were asked whether they wanted a spring judging, or were will to base their entry on one trip during the summer.
