A Wharfedale supermarket worker is undertaking a ‘hair-raising’ fundraiser for a cause very close to her heart.

Otley Sainsbury’s employee Kate Hobson is aiming to raise £500 for Leeds General Infirmary’s children’s heart unit by having her hair shaved off at 9.30am on Saturday, December 28.

Kate has volunteered for the event in memory of colleague Hannah Reynard’s daughter Ella Louise Newson-Smith, who died earlier this year aged just five months. Ella had been cared for at the heart unit. Kate’s hair will be donated to The Little Princess Trust, a charity which provides real hair wigs for children who have lost their hair through hospital treatment.
