Twenty scouts from Menston have completed a two-day mountain biking trip for their Expedition Challenge badges.
The scouts, aged ten to 13, cycled from Menston to the Blackhills Scout Campsite near Cottingley and back again, over a variety of terrain, from a rocky downhill in Shipley Glen, hard climbs over Hawksworth and Baildon Moors, rooty tracks in Esholt Woods, and enjoyable plain-sailing along the canal to Bingley.
The expedition was supported by a vehicle for drinks and sweet stops, which provided a much needed morale boost for tired scouts, and which transported their tents and kitbags for their overnight stop at Blackhills, where the scouts cooked a huge stew on an open fire, had games and a camp-fire sing-song.
