Ilkley councillors have granted a £1,000 award to a project to set up a local Tour de France website.
Ilkley Parish Council’s Awards and Projects Committee agreed to give the award to the Tour de France 2014 project to set up and maintain a website, ilkley.net/ letour, to underpin all celebratory events taking place in the town in relation to the Grand Depart coming through Ilkley next summer.
The committee has also awarded £2,000 to choir Cantores Olicanae as a contribution towards holding a Bach concert and workshops with local schools.
Other applications discussed included a £6,000-plus request from Ben Rhydding Primary School Parent Teacher Association towards the cost of created a self-contained changing room, and £5,000 towards the cost of providing free Wi-Fi in the street for residents of and visitors to Ilkley.
