Leeds Symphony Orchestra will give its annual concert in St Margaret’s Church, Horsforth, this month.
The concert, at 7.30pm, on Friday, June 28, will feature work by composers including Rossini, Weber and Bizet.
The orchestra, which has 85 players, has been giving the concerts since 1982. Its members come from all over Yorkshire with large numbers especially from Ilkley, Otley, Horsforth and northwest Leeds. It rehearses every Monday throughout the year in Headingley.
For the performance, conductor Martin Binks has chosen an “attractive and popular programme” of 19th century pieces. He said a selection of orchestral music from Bizet’s opera Carmen will be played.
Mr Binks said: “This spectacular symphony always raises the roof no matter where it is performed – last month LSO received a rapturous reception from a packed standing-room only audience in St Chad’s Church in Headingley.
“Members of the orchestra are confident of a similar response from the St Margaret’s audience.”
Tickets can be bought at Pictureplace, opposite Horsforth Library, or at the door.
