The Recycling Team from Bradford Council are celebrating the tenth anniversary of Recycle Week with an event in Ilkley’s South Hawksworth Street car park today.

As well as giving general recycling advice, team members will be promoting the new fortnightly recycling service to residents in the surrounding area.

From the end of July, Bradford Council kerbside recycling collections will double from monthly to fortnightly in Ilkley, Addingham, Burley-in-Wharfedale, Menston, Silsden, Steeton, Riddlesden, Sandbeds, East Morton, Cottingley, Eastburn and Nab Wood.

Residents will be able to recycle their plastic bottles in the glass and cans bin when the new service starts.

Between 10am and 3pm, the team will also demonstrate other ways that people can help the environment by making sure less waste ends up in environmentally-damaging landfill.

Andrew Thornton, the Council’s executive member for environment and sustainability, said: “Please come along to meet the team and find out what you can do help the environment.

“We will be happy to answer any recycling questions you have. We want everyone to realise how important it is to increase their efforts to recycle and continue the progress that has been made since Recycling Week began ten years ago.”
