A 16-year-old Ilkley boy has appeared in court accused of the attempted murder of a 12-year-old girl.

The teenager, who cannot be identifed for legal reasons, is also accused of committing an offence with the intention of committing a sexual offence and with the possession of an offensive weapon.

He appeared before magistrates sitting at Bradford Youth Court on Tuesday.

He was remanded in custody and will next appear before Bradford Crown Court on April 30.

The alleged offences relate to an incident on Sunday, when police were called shortly before noon to a report of an assault on a girl in Ben Rhydding.
