YORKSHIRE COUNTRYWOMEN’S ASSOCIATION: The acting chairman Wendy Maxwell welcomed members to the April meeting of the Hawksworth branch of the YCA and was pleased to see two new ones. Following updates on what was happening at branch, West Riding and county levels, Tony Burkitt was introduced as the speaker. He showed slides and spoke about the Peak District, an area he has loved and visited many times since first going there when growing up in Manchester. A vote of thanks was given by Linda Summers. Tea hostesses were Jackie Booth and Margaret Murgatroyd. The walking group will have their first walk of the season on the afternoon of Monday, April 29, when they will be exploring the Bingley area. Next month’s meeting is on Monday, May 13, when the speaker will give a talk on the history and work of the RNLI.
