Extra bollards have been placed on Ilkley town centre street The Grove and replacement flagstones laid, following concerns about damage to the pavement caused by delivery vehicles and workmen.
Ward councillor Anne Hawkesworth (Ind, Ilkley) said: “Hopefully that will do the trick.”
But she said councillors remained “very conscious” of the need for Bradford Council to be vigilant when any work is done by utility companies.
The next step for the central shopping street’s environmental spruce-up will be the painting of street furniture.
Fellow Ilkley ward councillors Martin Smith and Mike Gibbons agreed that by putting ward funding together they had managed to achieve a comprehensive improvement.
