A full timetable for Otley's first ever Mini Mountain Fest has been published.

Vertical landscape fans are expected to head to the town in force next Friday when the two-day event begins with a sold-out lecture by Doug Scott CBE, the first British climber to conquer Everest.

Then, on Saturday, December 1, Otley Courthouse will be packed with climbing-related events ranging from free bouldering trips to Caley Crags to mountaineering movies and a photographic exhibition.

Other attractions on the day will include a £1-a-go climbing wall, set up in the Courtyard from 12.30pm, a build a volcano children’s art workshop and guided walks from Otley to Clifton.

There will be stalls from a variety of charities, groups and businesses, including Walkers Are Welcome Otley, Yorkshire Air Ambulance, and Community Action Nepal will also be on show.

The Saturday fun begins with the free bouldering and abseiling trips to Caley Crags, which run from 10am to noon and then from 1pm to 3pm, and have to be booked.

Two Otley to Clifton guided walks will also run at the same time, while the build a volcano workshops, which cost £2 per child, take place from 1pm to 2pm and from 3pm to 4pm.

A variety of illustrated talks, short films and stalls will be held from 12.30pm, while an exhibition by artist Heather Dawes and a photographic display will be on show all day.

The mountain fest will conclude with a 7.30pm movie, The Long Hope, which documents the ascent of St John's Head by Dave MacLeod, introduced by leading UK winter climber Andy Turner.

Andy, who is featured in the film, will also talk about the experience and host a question and answer session.
