LIFE at Ilkley Playhouse is all hustle and bustle with a busy-bee springness about the building.

To fit everything in we’d have to take a bees-eye view and it would look something like this.

We welcome, once more, the Alfie Robot Retro Vintage Fair on Easter Saturday.

The doors open at 10am to welcome you in to a vintage extravaganza, taking in all aspects of furniture and fashion from the 1920s to the 1980s... yes, the 1980s are now considered vintage!

Twenty stalls will fill the Playhouse, and you can find refreshment, cakes and treats to tempt you to take a break. It’s a perfect place to find inspiration for your home and wardrobe, and do a spot of spring shopping.

Next, former Playhouse board-treader and our current patron Alan Titchmarsh will be joining us on April 4, from 7pm, for an evening of anecdotes, insights and memories, as well as a Q&A with the audience.

You can submit your questions to the office by emailing info@ilkleyplayhouse.co.uk; there’ll also be an opportunity to pose questions on the night. Alan will be signing books after the event.

Claptrap Theatre returns to the Playhouse with their production, Blindfold, on Friday, April 13 from 7.30pm. Claptrap specialise in gripping dramas; this brand-new ghost story by Bafta-nominated writer Tom Needham is sure to enthral.

Blindfold tells the story of two boyhood friends who went to fight for their country in 1914. Only one came back. The three people closest to the fallen soldier never recovered from his death; 20 years later, they find themselves haunted by a young man in a blindfold. Their lives change again as long-buried truths start to emerge... is anyone else starting to shiver?

Look out for Simon Waley, former Playhouse member, in the cast.

Remaining with the First World War theme in the centenary year of its end, our next Wharfeside Theatre production is Journey’s End by R C Sherriff. Written in 1928, Journey’s End is set in 1918 France.

It takes place in the officers’ dugout of an English infantry company over the days leading up to a major German offensive, as the men share stories of home, endure endless waiting, and prepare for battle. It’s as poignant as it is important. Journey’s End runs from April 18 to 28.

Finally, Friday, April 20 will see the Wildman Studio filled with mystery, murder and intrigue with an interactive Murder Mystery evening.

Shipley Little Theatre Company will entertain and exercise our little grey cells with their production, Truth Will Out. Set in the roaring ‘20s, Lord Robert and Lady Anne Nithsdale are hosting a dinner party to present their new guest, the mysterious spiritualist Alexsei Vasiliev, who claims to be able to call forth the ghosts of the departed.

But someone in the house hides dark secrets and when Vasiliev threatens to reveal them, mysticism gives way to murder.

Can you solve the mystery of Alexsei’s murder and root out the other secrets lurking in this stately home?

With prizes to be won, unleash your inner Poirot or Marple to solve the crime and win the day.

The game is afoot from 7.30pm and is suitable for anyone from the age of 14.

Tickets for all events and productions can be found at www.ilkleyplayhouse.co.uk or by calling 01943 609 539.
