THERE'S so many reasons to smile this week at Ilkley Cinema: May Day is on the horizon and the sun is shining, all in time for the opening of our new balcony area. So bring your friends down to the cinema, grab yourself a cheeky drink and enjoy the sunshine, even if you’re not watching a movie.

We reach for the skies with this week's selection of films. From April 29 - May 5 we have the lovable Eddie the Eagle and the definitive superhero showdown in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Joining these soaring stars is the incredible story of cycling legend Graeme Obree in Battle Mountain. Dakota Johnson shows us How to be Single when she moves to New York after a long-term relationship in this hilarious rom-com on April 29. Also for the Kid's Club this Saturday, we have the Disney Pixar classic Brave.

If the world had told Eddie "The Eagle" Edwards ten years ago that he would have a film based on his unlikely rise to fame, he may well have thought it was a joke. But much like the 1988 Winter Olympics, anything is possible. Britain's favourite underdog, portrayed by Taron Egerton, dreams of Olympic glory and trains to be a ski jumper with the help of former champion Bronson Peary (Hugh Jackman) to become Great Britain’s first representative in Winter Olympic ski jumping.

In the ultimate battle of Man v God, we will find out who reigns victorious in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Believing the God-like alien to be a threat to humanity, Batman (Ben Affleck) seeks to destroy Superman (Henry Cavill). But the devious Lex Luthor (Jesse Eisenberg) also launches his own personal attack against his archenemy: the Man of Steel.

On April 30 we have an exclusive event at Ilkley Cinema: two screenings of Battle Mountain, the remarkable story of a quest to set a Human Powered Landspeed Record. Attending this occasion is the film’s leading star and the legend himself, Graeme Obree who will be doing a live Q+A alongside the performances. This is every cyclists dream so grab your tickets quick.
